Emotions, thoughts, memories, behavioral nuance and mind-body connections are undeniably real and constantly experienced by everyone, but very hard to describe, isolate or quantify. That is why therapy is both a science and an art. There is no particular tool or style that works for everyone in every situation.
Each therapist develops a unique and evolving approach based on experience, education and the personal and interpersonal capacities of the therapist. My intuitive gifts as a therapist include the ability to see patterns, to be connected in shared Mystery, to speak truth with compassion, and a high tolerance for the intimacy of knowing and being known, seeing and being seen.
I am not a passive or quiet therapist. I am engaged, non-judgmental, curious, challenging when necessary, and deeply compassionate. I am able to listen actively and carefully, and to honor your pace and boundaries, without letting you avoid the work. My approach is natural and contextual. I try to avoid pathologizing labels and branded methodologies.
Clinical Hypnosis or "hypnotherapy" is not mysterious or dangerous; it is an intentional trance state that allows you to turn down the volume of your internal self-critic and self-consciousness, allowing you to hear your own deeper thoughts, ideas, wisdom, and sometimes the true voice of the resistant or stubborn part of you that doesn't agree with (and isn't cooperating with) your conscious agenda. You will typically remember everything from a hypnosis session, and leave feeling refreshed and in-touch with yourself.
The words and images that come from your subconscious mind will mean more to you and stay with you longer than anything you hear from a therapist or read in a book. It is always my intention to help clients access their own inner wisdom.
I also work with a profound sense of the spiritual, which I would broadly describe as the unseen world, the Field, the great Mystery that connects Everything. If you are not a spiritual person, we don’t have to use that paradigm in our work.
My training has focused on, but is not limited to, Ericksonian Hypnosis (archetypes, narratives, visualization), Systems Theory (including Internal Family Systems), Attachment Theory, Cognitive Psychology, Behavioral Psychology, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Evolutionary Psychology, Existentialism, Humanism and Constructivism. Each of these perspectives informs my approach to psychotherapy.
A standard 25-minute consult is required for new Psychotherapy or new Hypnosis clients. Most people do the initial consult on zoom, but you are welcome to come in person, just let me know.
Any psychotherapy session may include hypnosis. All hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy. Your intentions will guide the type of work we do together.
COUPLES WORK: I love working with couples who want to stay together, grow together, grow through crisis, and grow through change. If you want a therapist to help you break up, there are better choices available. If you both want to find your individual strength and dignity within the relationship, I will be an asset to you. And while there are no guarantees on the long path of life, I can say with all KNOWING that true interpersonal intimacy facilitates profound healing.
NOTE: I do not require weekly or bi-weekly commitments. Sometimes you may want to come regularly, then space it out for a while or take a break. That is a good way to flow in this work, in my experience. Because I’m not filling my schedule with committed attendance, it does not book out more than a week or two in advance.

Past Life Regression ("PLR") is a trance-based method of accessing your soul's memories. You can remember events from your current life, past lives (regression) and even what you would think of as “future” lives (progression). Time is not really linear.
People want to remember other lifetimes for a variety of reasons: to better understand their purpose in this life, to understand present-day patterns and issues, to gain insight into difficult relationships, and to relieve or eliminate the fear of death.
Some people just want "evidence" that they are in fact a soul having a physical life; this evidence comes in the form of Knowing and first person experiential memories.
Many of us feel drawn to the idea of reincarnation despite western religious traditions that teach "one life". We tend to become more flexible about our beliefs over the course of our lives, and more humble about how much we don't know.
Even if you aren’t sure if you believe in reincarnation, Past Life Regression can be powerful and transformative. You have all the time in the world to decide whether you “believe” what you remember.
I was curious but skeptical before my own first regression. But the memories were too specific, too random, too mundane for me to dismiss. Over time, I was able to integrate what I remembered into a new spiritual self-concept.
While beliefs come with a certain amount of logical doubt, they can give way to a sense of Knowing, beyond doubt.
Things that can be Known beyond doubt are big things: that I am more than my physical body, that I am loved, that I am never alone, that I am not separate from Source, that only the body can die.
These Knowings are not dogmatic; they will liberate you, not constrain you.
I can assist you through the process of past life regression; your own first-person experiential memories, rich with detail and emotion, are always the most powerful evidence.
I have regressed more than 650 clients since I completed training under Dr. Brian Weiss (Many Lives, Many Masters) at the Omega institute in Rhinebeck, NY in 2015. Everyone has a soul, and everyone can access their soul’s memories. Read more.
A standard 25-minute PLR consult is required for Past Life Regression. This ensures that you have successful regression experience, that you are fully prepared, and that you will have an easy time relaxing into trance.
FEES
Required Initial Consult is $125 / 25 min
Past Life Regression is $450 / 110 min

Note that 110-minute PLR has a 48-hour cancellation policy

During a Soundbath Meditation, Barbara plays a series of vibrating musical instruments, such as crystal singing bowls, Tibetan metal singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, chimes, and drums, as well as using her voice. Every session begins and ends with Guided Meditation.
When you receive healing vibration direction into your body and your energetic field, you may expect the following benefits:

Your bones, muscles, joints and connective tissues are directly stimulated to relax through vibration
Your blood and lymph are activated to enliven your immune system, oxygen transport and nutrient distribution through vibration
Your physical body is made of vibrating cells. Sound vibration is an excellent tool to reharmonize the amazing functions of your body’s many systems

I offer eclectic LPC clinical supervision, ideal for self-motivated new therapists who are already marching to the beat of their own unique drum, for whom traditional supervision may feel constrained or too normative.
I provide a compassionate, encouraging and judgment-free environment in which to explore your goals and dreams while meeting state guidelines and learning to color creatively inside the lines.
When I became a therapist, I really wanted to do Past Life Regressions because I’d had a transformative regression experience myself. But I felt like I needed to postpone pursuing my vision because my supervisor, while clinically excellent, was blatantly dismissive of my spiritual “new age” interests. The truth is, you can do both.
You can learn and practice clinical excellence and integrate your personal interests. When you “fly your freak flag” your clients will find you. Otherwise you can get lost in the endless flow of typical therapists.
I want to work with Associates who are passionate about their training, and are ready to share with the rest of the group about what they are learning. We will all grow and be expanded by learning together, without needing to be in agreement or to be practicing in the same ways.
